A Tiimo alternative for caregivers: Tiimo and GentleTime compared

Tiimo is a visual daily planner for neurodivergent teens and adults who plan their own day. If you are looking for a Tiimo alternative because you plan the day for someone else, such as a child who cannot read yet or an adult you care for, GentleTime is built for that: a caregiver plans with pictograms, and the person follows along on a watch.

Where Tiimo is strong

Tiimo is a well-known, polished app, and for many people it is exactly the right choice.

  • Recognition. Tiimo was named iPhone App of the Year in the 2025 App Store Awards, and its US App Store listing shows around 20,000 ratings averaging 4.6.
  • Planning your own day. It is designed for people who plan for themselves, and it was co-designed with ADHD and autism experts, according to its App Store listing.
  • AI features. An AI Co-Planner, AI task breakdown, turning a photo into tasks, and Siri support.
  • Languages and platforms. The iOS app is available in 24 languages, and Tiimo runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, the web and Apple Watch.
  • Frequent updates. A new version was released in late September 2026, and the Android app was rebuilt in May 2026.

If you are an adult or teen who wants to plan your own day visually, these are real advantages.

Where GentleTime is different

GentleTime starts from a different situation: one person plans, another person follows.

  • A caregiver plans for someone else. A parent, carer or care team builds the day in the web app or phone app. Simple mode is a list of big cards; full mode adds a timeline, templates, a team and insights.
  • Follow the day on the watch without reading. The watch shows a picture of what is happening now, a countdown, and what comes next. A gentle vibration marks each transition, with an optional heads-up before the change. It keeps working offline after syncing.
  • Apple Watch and Wear OS. Families with Android phones and Wear OS watches can use it too.
  • Pictograms, not icons. About 3,000 Mulberry Symbols with names in English, Dutch, German, French and Spanish, and you can add your own pictures. See our guide to pictograms for visual schedules.
  • A team with roles. Several caregivers can work on the same person's day, for example parents and a school or care organization.
  • Structure that fits the person. Per person you choose: by the clock, step by step (so there is no "late"), by parts of the day, or as a checklist.
  • A free printable maker. Make a paper schedule with the same pictograms in the free visual schedule maker, no account needed.
  • Other ways to follow. Without a watch, the person can follow the day on their own phone, tablet or in the browser with their own simple login.

Which one fits you?

  • You are an adult or teen with ADHD or autism and plan your own day. Tiimo may fit better. It is made for self-planners and has AI planning help.
  • You plan for a child who cannot read yet. GentleTime is designed for this: pictograms, a picture of now and next on the watch, and a vibration at each change.
  • Your family uses Android phones or a Wear OS watch. Tiimo does not mention a Wear OS app. GentleTime works on Wear OS as well as Apple Watch.
  • Several people plan together. If parents, grandparents, a school or a care team all need to see and change the day, GentleTime has shared planning with several caregivers.
  • You care for someone with dementia or an intellectual disability. GentleTime lets a carer plan the day and choose a structure that suits the person, such as parts of the day instead of exact times. See our dementia daily routine guide.
  • You want to try before you pay. Tiimo has a 7-day trial on the yearly plan. GentleTime has a 14-day trial without a credit card, and the printable maker is free.

Using both

Some households have both situations under one roof. A teen or parent with ADHD may plan their own day in Tiimo, while a younger sibling who does not read yet follows a pictogram day on a watch that a parent plans in GentleTime. And for any setup, a printed schedule on the wall is a useful backup when a battery runs flat.
